There were two things I am trying to achieve in my first primary form. A structure similar to that of Meta and the openness - especially the counter spaces - of Univers. I developed this first glyph after about a hundred sketches. Most of all the sketches started and progressed almost on the same primary form as above, however this Illustrator rendering is an attempt to copy the selected sketch that I thought was close to what I liked, or what I was trying to achieve.
Its amazing how the mind and the hand coordinates. As I said before, I was trying to explore what might come out of a steady influence of the two great typefaces, however, half way through (and in the early morning hours) It occoured to me that this form, unknowingly, was taking a uncanny likeness to the Gurmukhi script.
"Ra - Gurmukhi"
Which reminded me of a quote I read somewhere, "your enviornment is stronger than you think". I continued to improve upon this new discovery and the primary form is now finalized for further developments.
